FAIRFIELD, Conn.-The Marist women's soccer team came away with a 1-1 double-overtime result at Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Fairfield this evening on Lessing Field.

Trailing 1-0 after a goal by Marist's Kristen Leonhard (Succasunna, N.J.) in the 67th minutes, the Stags (7-6-2; 4-3-1 MAAC) mounted an attack that found Ahna Johnson on the far side of the box with the ball. Johnson put the ball to the center of the box onto the foot of Alex Caram, who knocked the ball past Marist keeper Anna Case (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) to tie the score with 28 seconds to play.

The best scoring chances in overtime came during the first overtime period for both sides. Fairfield put two shots on net, both of which were stopped by Marist's (4-10-2; 3-4-1 MAAC) Case. The Red Foxes managed one shot on goal in the first overtime period that was handled by Stag keeper Brett Maran. Fairfield held a 2-1 advantage in shots in the second overtime period, but neither team could put a ball on net.

Fairfield held a 6-5 shot advantage in the first half, 16-10 for the game, but neither team could touch net in the first period. Maran finished the game with six saves for Fairfield, while Case totaled seven stops.

Fairfield had eight corners, two of which game in the second overtime period. Marist finished with six corners, four in the extra time.

The Red Foxes will be back in action Sunday at Iona at 7 p.m.
