Kissimee, Fla. -
Marist senior Liz Egan (Shelton, Conn.) was named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team for her efforts in this week's championships. The Red Foxes were the sixth seed in this year's tournament, held at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports. Marist knocked off #3 Siena, 2-0 in the quarterfinals before falling to #2 Niagara, 2-1 in overtime.
Egan was critical to Marist's run at the MAAC Championships as well as to her squad's play all season. In addition to serving as team captain, Egan was one of just two players to start all 19 games, playing the full 90:00 in many of them.
The Red Foxes finished the 2005 campaign at 5-12-2 (3-5-1 MAAC). Their victory in the quarterfinals was the program's first postseason win since 2001 and the squad nearly earned a spot in the MAAC Championship. Fairfield University went on to defeat Niagara, 2-1 this afternoon for the title.
