POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- The Marist Women's Volleyball team dropped a hard fought 3-1 decision to Manhattan on Friday night 3-1. Scores of the games were 25-30, 32-30, 21-30 and 25-30. With the loss Marist falls to 8-19 overall on the year and 2-6 in MAAC competition. Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, Pa.) tallied 19 kills on the night, while Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, Calif.) recorded 41 assists on the night.
The Jaspers got out of the gates quick, taking the first game 30-25. Marist rebounded for a 32-30 win in game two, but could not overcome three Manhattan players with double-digit kills. Megan O'Dorisio led the way for the Jaspers with a double-double, tallying 16 kills and 11 digs. Maggie Pfeifer added 15 kills and six digs, while Whitney Judkins added 10 digs.
Marist was led by Kenworthy with her 19 kills. Christy Lukes (Mesa, Ariz.) added eight kills and six digs for the Red Foxes. Other strong performances for the Red Foxes came from Stefanie Miksch (Austin, Texas) who had eight kills and 16 digs and Cochrane who picked up her 4,000th career assist Friday.
The Red Foxes will close out the season tomorrow afternoon on Senior Day. Marist will recognize Cochrane and Katie Lux prior to the match against Saint Peter's. Festivities are set to get under way at 2 p.m.
