Lawrenceville, N.J. -
The Marist volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to MAAC foe Rider this afternoon at Alumni Gym. Despite three players with double-digit kills and a Stefanie Miksch (Austin, Texas) double-double (11 kills, 16 digs), Marist was unable to slow a Rider comeback.
The Red Foxes got off to a good start, winning game one 30-23, in their best offensive performance of the match. The Broncs rebounded in game two, tallying 19 kills as they squeezed past the Foxes, 30-28. That close victory gave them the momentum they needed as the Broncs took games three and four, both 30-21.
Junior Sally Hanson (Guerneville, Calif.) was sound for Marist, posting a match-high 17 kills along with three aces and seven digs. Classmate Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) led four Red Foxes in double-digit digs with 20. Katie Lux (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied 19 digs while Dominique O'Sullivan (Anaheim, Calif.) picked up 15.
