Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team is in third place after one day of competition at the 2005 ECAC Championships, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh at Trees Pool. Senior co-captain Matthew Castillo placed second and junior Joseph Pilewski third in the 200 individual medley.
Castillo placed second in a time of 1:52.87 with Pilewski immediately following in 1:53.27. Senior co-captain Jeffrey Paul placed sixth in the 50 freestyle in 21.29 seconds.
Freshman Devon O'Nalty led the Marist diving corps with a fifth-place finish on the 3-meter platform. The East Hartford, Conn. native earned a score of 361.35.
The 400 medley relay squad of sophomore Dave Schnitzer, Castillo, junior Kevin Connors and Paul took fourth in 3:26.72 while the 200 freestyle relay, composed of Castillo, sophomore Patrick Collins, freshman Greg Jablonski and Paul swam to a fifth-place finish in a time of 1:24.94.
