South Orange, N.J. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team fell on the road today to Seton Hall by a 134-108 margin. Senior co-captain Matthew Castillo led the Red Foxes (9-2) with two individual wins. Freshman diver Devon O'Nalty won the 1-meter diving platform for the second meet in a row and the third time this season.
Castillo took first place in the 200 individual medley (1:56.27) and the 200 breaststroke (2:12.06) while also taking second in the 200 butterfly in a time of 1:57.92.
O'Nalty's score of 260.85 on the lower diving board was just enough to edge out Seton Hall's Zach Smith. Freshman John Luboja took third with a 194.55 mark. O'Nalty followed his win with a second-place showing on the 3-meter platform (241.65). Classmate Jesus Santos placed third with 238.20.
Several Red Foxes took second in their races, including freshman Ralph Rienzo, who was the runner-up in both the 500 and 1000 freestyles. Freshman Greg Jablonski was second in the 200 freestyle, just .22 seconds behind the Pirates' Steve Falcone, while sophomore Daniel Garaffa did likewise in the 200 backstroke.
The Red Foxes are back in action Thursday, Feb. 17 at the three-day MAAC Championship meet in Baltimore, Md., hosted by Loyola. Marist will be looking to capture its ninth team title in 10 years.
