Box Score

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-Senior Keith Brachold and sophomore Thomas Ciccarone combined to go 4-for-8 with four RBI to lift Marist to an 8-3 victory over Binghamton Wednesday afternoon at the McCann Baseball Field. The win, Marist's fourth in a row, moved the Red Foxes to 5-11 overall, while Binghamton fell to 7-10-1 overall.

Sophomore Justin Lepore went 2-for-3 for Marist with a pair of runs scored, while senior George Heath (1-1) picked up the win, going four innings and allowing just one run on two hits to go with two strikeouts and three walks. Sophomore Brendon Hitchcock led the Bearcats with a 3-for-3 effort with two runs. Freshman Gio Yanuzzi (0-1) took the loss for Binghamton, allowing three earned runs on six hits in five innings while striking out three and walking three.

After junior Andy Kiriakedes scored on a passed ball in the first inning, Ciccarone doubled home LePore in the second inning to make the score 2-0. Ciccarone then later scored on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Travis Musolf.

Binghamton cut the lead to 3-1 in the fourth frame when sophomore Jamie Boyer knocked in sophomore Matt Simek with an RBI groundout.

In the fifth inning, junior Mathieu Bergeron cut the Red Foxes' lead to one when he doubled home Hitchcock to the left-center field gap.

However, the Red Foxes put up five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on just one hit to put the game out of reach. Three of the runs came home on a hit batter, a sacrifice fly, and an RBI-groundout before Brachold's single to right field plated two more.

Hitchcock scored in the eighth on a fielder's choice for the final margin.

Marist's Tom Close and Bobby Hastry came on in relief of Heath and allowed just three hits and two runs over the last five innings.

Marist will next face league foe Rider at home on Saturday at noon in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, April 2.
