Marist Baseball Swamped by Top-Ranked Green Wave

New Orleans, La. - The Marist baseball team (1-4) fell behind early and could not catch up as #1 Tulane routed the Red Foxes 24-2. The three-games series concludes tomorrow at Turchin Stadium.

Tulane scored twice each in the first and third innings before putting the game well out of reach with 19 runs in the middle three stanzas. Green Wave starter Micah Owings was dominant, allowing just one hit and striking out eight in six innings.

Pinch hitter Justin Lepore finally got the Red Foxes on the scoreboard with an RBI single in the top of the seventh that scored Keith Glasser. Pat Feeney followed with an RBI groundout to bring home Bryan Towler.

Greg Dini was one of three Tulane hitters with three hits on the day. He drove in three runs to lead the attack. Starter Chris Tracz took the loss for Marist, allowing seven runs (six earned) in 3 1/3 innings.

Marist and Tulane hook up for the final time tomorrow at 2 p.m. EST.
