NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team won its seventh consecutive match, defeating the Niagara Purple Eagles 6-1. The victory ended Niagara's dominance of the MAAC, as the Red Foxes handed the Eagles their first conference defeat since 2001. The win improved Marist to 10-3 overall, and 5-0 in the MAAC.
Marist took five out of six singles matches, and sophomore Megan Gureck's match went to a third set tiebreak. Senior captain Diana Perachio won both of her matches, as she teamed with freshman Erin Godly to secure an 8-6 win in first doubles. Godly also won both of her matches, as she was a three-set winner, defeating Jacquelyn Cary, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Junior Inge Le-Grange lost two games in her singles match, and teamed with Yana Tikhonko for an 8-6 win in doubles.
