April 16, 2005

Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-Right fielder Keith Brachold laced a two-run single to center to lift Marist to a 4-3 win over Le Moyne Saturday at the McCann Baseball Field. The Dolphins won the first game 3-0 on a one-hit shutout by pitcher Bobby Blevins. Marist is now 12-15 overall and 8-3 in the MAAC, while Le Moyne stands at 13-11 and 7-2 in the league.

In game one, Blevins (4-2) went the distance, allowing just one hit and one walk to go with seven strikeouts. Marist's Scott Chambers (0-5) also went the entire nine innings, allowing seven hits and three runs to go with eight strikeouts.

Offensively, Le Moyne was led by first baseman Keith Connors who had two hits, while third baseman Andre Enriquez had a pair of RBI. Marist catcher Bryan Towler had the lone hit for the Red Foxes.

After the first three innings went without a run, Le Moyne broke through with a tally on a single to center by Enriquez in the fourth to make the score 1-0.

Le Moyne inched ahead by another run in the top of the seventh when left fielder Ben Gaal plated a run with a single to left center and added its final tally on an Enriquez sacrifice fly in the eighth.

It looked to be more of the same as Le Moyne got out to a 3-0 lead in the second game behind the strong pitching of Dolphin starter T. J. Sheridan. Catcher Brian Hansen roped a double down the left field line for the first Le Moyne run in the first inning, while Enriquez made the score 2-0 on an RBI-groundout in the third.

After Connors scored in the fifth on a throwing error by Marist shortstop Andy Kiriakedes to make the score 3-0, Marist pinch hitter Pat Feeney walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh. Enriquez then plunked first baseman Kevin Buck with the next pitch to put runners on first and second with no outs. One out later, third baseman Travis Musolf doubled in Feeney with a shot down the left field line, setting the stage for Brachold's game-winning heroics.

The comeback made a winner of Marist's Chris Tracz (4-3), who went the entire seven innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits to go with four strikeouts and two walks. Enriquez (1-1) suffered his first loss, yielding three runs on two hits while striking out one and walking one in two-thirds of an inning.

Musolf went 3-for-4 in the second game to lead Marist, while he and Brachold had two RBI.

The Red Foxes and Dolphins will complete their series on Sunday at noon.
