Marist Advances To Championship Game Of The 2005 Anaconda Sports MAAC Baseball Championship

FISHKILL, N.Y.- Marist senior Scott Chambers pitched into the eighth inning to lead top-seeded Marist College (32-19) to a 6-4 victory over second-seeded Siena College (29-22) in game four of the 2005 Anaconda Sports MAAC Baseball Championship at Dutchess Stadium. Marist will play the winner of tonight's Niagara/Siena game in Game 6 on Saturday, May 28, at 1:00 p.m.

Chambers improved to 3-5 on the mound with the win, while Rob Ryan earned his eighth save of the season. Siena's Ken Grant fell to 5-2 on the season. Chambers allowed four runs in 7.1 innings and struck out five while walking four. Grant yielded four earned runs on four hits while striking out four and walking five.

Marist right fielder Kevin Grauer went 2-for-3 to lead the Red Foxes at the plate, while Siena was led by two hits from first baseman Rick Seltzer, catcher Eric Hildenbrand and center fielder Matt Gidaly.

Marist made the first offensive effort of the game with three runs scored in the bottom of the second inning. Siena tied it at 3-3 in the top of the third, as Gidaly scored on an RBI double from Scott King, and Hildenbrand knocked an RBI double down the left field line to bring in King and Jake Willis.

Marist went on to take a 5-3 lead in the third as catcher Bryan Towler recorded a two-run homer over the left field wall. The Red Foxes added another run (6-3) in the bottom of the fourth as center fielder Travis Musolf crossed home plate on a double to left field by shortstop Andy Kiriakedes. The Saints then closed within two (6-4) in top of the eighth as Hildenbrand dropped an RBI single in left field to allow Willis to cross home plate.
