Marist Head Coach Brian Giorgis:
On containing Siena forward Laura Menty:
It hurt them that she got two early fouls and was in foul trouble. They did great without her, the rest of the team really stepped up. Limiting her to two field goals was also important.
On expectations following 0-4 start; on current 12 game winning streak:
Back when we had four losses, I still thought we were a good basketball team. We played well except in the game against New Hampshire. We could have beaten Villanova and New Mexico. Offensively we have been better lately and have more contributors off the bench. This allows us to rest our starters more (throughout game).
On upcoming game against Saint Peter's:
We feel good. It can be a trap game though; they have won two in a row. We can't play like we did the first twelve minutes tonight.
Marist senior forward Fifi Camara
On what she did to adjust after a rough first half:
I just relaxed and was more patient out there. At halftime my teammates told me to just calm down and relax, play my game. The balls we used were slippery and I was sweating a lot, so I had to adjust to that.
On current 12 game winning streak:
We take it one game at a time. We are not worried about the streak. We just come to play. Everyone in this conference can play. If we get caught up in the winning streak and do not focus on our game plan, they can beat us.
Marist redshirt-sophomore center Meg Dahlman:
On falling behind early in the game:
We know it's important not to force anything. We have to play our game. We don't get down (emotionally); we take it two points at a time. Fifi got on a run and Jules (Julianne Viani) hit a big three and things just started to go our way.
Siena Head Coach Gina Castelli:
On first half lead and second half collapse:
I thought we had a good first half, we stepped up and played hard and aggressive. We didn't do the same things in the second half. Marist stepped it up in the second half. We just needed to be more aggressive out there in the second half.
