Final Stats

Jersey City, N.J. - Despite having four players in double figures, the Marist women's basketball team (12-5/7-1 MAAC) lost to St. Peter's (7-10/3-5 MAAC) in the hostile Yanitelli Center, 84-74. The loss snapped Marist's 12-game winning streak, which had been the fifth longest in the NCAA. The game was extremely physical, with the teams each committing 24 fouls.

After a back and forth first half, Marist took a 34-33 lead into the break on the strength of 13 points from Meg Dahlman (Spencerport, N.Y.).

The second half was more of the same, but a few big three pulled the Peahens ahead, 68-58 with 3:36 remaining. Marist was forced to foul late which helped St. Peter's build its point total. Freshman Julianne Viani (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) drained four threes in the last minute and a half to keep the Red Foxes in the game. A few steals helped keep Marist within reach, down 80-74 at 0:31, but an intentional foul allowed St. Peter's to retain possession despite missing two free-throws. The Peahens went 4-4 down the stretch from the line to secure the victory.

Fifi Camara (Conakry, Guinea) led Marist again with 21 points and nine rebounds. Dahlman finished with 17 points and seven boards while Viani also added 17 points and a game-high five assists. Nikki Flores (Montvale, N.J.) chipped in 11 points, three assists and two steals in the losing effort.

St. Peter's had four players in double figures as well, with Kristen Hood leading the way with 17 points and nine boards.

The Red Foxes, who remained alone in first place in the MAAC despite the loss, return home to host Rider at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
