Final Stats
JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Kate Fox (Franklin, Mass.) and Caitrin Farry (Short Hills, N.J.) scored for Marist in a 2-0 win over Saint Peter's (2-10, 0-3) on Friday afternoon. The win ended Marist's seven game losing streak and moved it to within a game of the .500 mark in MAAC play.
The game was scoreless until Fox gave the Foxes a 1-0 lead, on her fourth goal of the season, at the 38:39 mark. Susanne Seggel (Lavalette, N.J.) was credited with the assist on the marker, her first point of the season.
The Foxes would add an insurance goal just under 15 minutes into the second half on red shirt junior Farry's first marker as a Red Fox. The assist on the goal went to freshman Kaitlyn Kiely (Old Tappan, N.J.), her first career point at Marist.
Head coach Elizabeth Roper used two goal keepers in the match with Caitlin Nazarechuk (Ringwood, N.J.) getting the start and earning her third win of the season. Freshman Kristen Aliperti (West Babylon, N.Y.) played the entire second half making one save in the frame. Friday was Aliperti's first career appearance in net for the Foxes.
Marist dominated in the game, holding a commanding 15-2 edge in shots for the match, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Foxes also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks and fouls for the match were 12-4 against Marist.
The win was Marist's first since defeating Brown 2-1 on September 8. With the triumph the Foxes move to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in league play. Marist will be back on the pitch on Sunday morning when it travels to Manhattan for an early morning affair. Kick-off in Riverdale is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
