LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Marist Volleyball team dropped a four game decision on Saturday afternoon at Rider. Scores of the match were 30-24, 24-30, 29-31 and 24-30 in favor of the Broncs. Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, Pa.) led all players with 19 kills in the match.
Marist had four players record double digits in kills, but it was not enough to overcome a balanced Rider attack. Also in double figures in kills, aside from Kenworthy for the Foxes, were Sally Hanson (Guerneville, Calif.) with 15, as well as Christy Lukes (Mesa, Ariz.) and Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) with 10 kills apiece. Hanson's effort in the match leaves her one kill shy of 1,000 in her career.
Defensively for Marist, Kenworthy led two Marist players with 20-plus digs with her 28. McEathron posted 25 digs for the Foxes in the match. Freshman setter Dawn Jan (Belleville, N.J.) posted 51 assists.
Rider's attack was led on offense by Megan Smith with 16 kills. JoAnna Winter led the Broncs with 49 assists in the win. On the defensive side Rider had five players record double digit digs, led by Amy Jeary with a match high 33.
With the loss Marist falls to 4-13 overall and 2-6 in the league. Marist will be off until next Saturday when it returns to the road and plays at Fairfield. The match is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
