BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Ryan Stilphen scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Marist defeated Canisius 74-71 Monday night.

Will Whittington added 16 points, including four 3-pointers, while Jared Jordan had 14 points and seven assists. Marist (16-8, 10-6 Metro Atlantic Athletic) snapped a six-game losing streak to Canisius (6-18, 5-11).

Kevin Downey led Canisius with 19 points but missed a 3-pointer as time expired that could have sent the game into overtime. Joe Young had 13 points, while Darnell Wilson also scored 13 before fouling out.

Young drained a contested bucket to beat the halftime buzzer, giving the Golden Griffins a 31-29 lead at the break.

Marist connected on just 11-of-33 attempts in the first half and 3-of-14 from beyond the arc. But the Red Foxes opened the second half with a 9-2 run and took control of the game with another 9-4 spurt. They converted 47 percent of their shots in the second half.

Canisius turned the ball over 17 times, with Marist scoring 22 points off turnovers.
