POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Men's Swimming and Diving team avenged their loss to the Pirates a season ago by posting a 161-127 victory on Saturday afternoon in the McCann Center. Junior Pat Collins (Nutley, N.J.) won three individual events, while sophomore Ralph Rienzo (Wallingford, Conn.) won twice for the Red Foxes.

Collins was again a dominating force for Marist on Saturday, as he posted victories in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle and then another in the 100-yard backstroke. Collins also swan the anchor leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay which Marist posted a time of 1:26.56 in.

Rienzo swept the distance freestyle events for Marist, as he posted a time of 9:48.14 in the 1,000 free and came back to win the 500 free in a time of 4:47.64. Nick Chevalier (Milford, N.H.) finished second in the 1,000, while freshman Spencer Hartmann (Windsor, Conn.) took second in the 500.

Other individual winners on Saturday for the Red Foxes were Greg Jablonski (Massapequa, N.Y.) in the 200-yard freestyle, Dan Garaffa (Manchester, Conn.) in the 200-yard backstroke and Joe Pilewski (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) in the 200-yard breaststroke.

In diving, Jesus Santos and Devon O'Nalty were winners in the one and three-meter events, respectively. Santos took first off the one-meter board with a score of 237.75, while O'Nalty took the three-meter title posting a score of 249.90.

Before the meet the Red Foxes recognized four members of the squad who would swim in their final meet at the McCann Center. Kevin Bobenchik (Rahway, N.J.), Pilewski, captain Alec Troxell (Andreas, Pa.) and captain Kevin Connors (Holmdel, N.J.) were honored prior to the meet for their dedication to the program for the past four years.

With the win the Red Foxes moved to 9-1 on the season. They will be off for two weeks before heading to Baltimore February 16-18 for the MAAC Championships. Marist will look to avenge its only loss of the season, to Rider, and claim its second straight MAAC title.
