EDISON, N.J. - Marist freshman Jessica Green (Manassas, Va.) has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week it was announced on Monday evening. Green hit .529 in four games this past weekend and drove in eight runs, as the Red Foxes went a perfect 4-0.
In a doubleheader at Columbia on March 25, Green went a combined 6-for-9 and drove in four runs as the Red Foxes swept the twinbill from the Lions. On Sunday against Yale, Green picked up where she left off as she picked up three more hits and drove in four more runs. In game one of the doubleheader with the Bulldogs, Green hit a game winning three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to send Marist to a 4-1 win.
For the season, Green ranks second on the team in batting (.351) and leads the team in hits (20), RBI (15) and at bats (57).
After dropping a 5-4 decision to Providence on March 19, Marist has reeled off four straight wins and has won 10 of its last 11 contests to move to 11-5 on the year. The Red Foxes are back in action this afternoon when they host Army for a doubleheader beginning at 2:30.
