Final Stats

ALBANY, N.Y. - Junior right-hander Bobby Hastry (Maynard, Mass.) allowed one run over five innings of work and junior closer Robert Ryan (Roslindale, Mass.) hurled a perfect ninth to pick up his ninth save, as Marist edged UAlbany, 4-2, in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday afternoon at Varsity Field.

Marist (19-24) strung together three straight hits to start the third inning and took a 1-0 lead on a RBI single by junior shortstop Pat Feeney (New City, N.Y.). The Red Foxes extended their lead in the following frame. Sophomore catcher Keith Glasser (Rensselaer, N.Y.) drilled an RBI single down the left-field line and junior right fielder Travis Musolf (Manchester, N.J.) delivered a sacrifice fly to give Marist a 3-0 advantage.

UAlbany (11-27) got a run back in the home half of the fourth when Leo Corvino belted his first home run of the season, a solo shot to center field. Junior catcher Tom Hill made the score 3-2 with a solo homer of his own in the sixth. Hill, who leads the America East Conference with 11 round-trippers, extended his hit streak to 15 games with the blast.

Junior left fielder Tom Ciccarone's (Somerville, N.J.) suicide squeeze in the eighth made the score 4-2. Redshirt junior reliever Mike Puckli (Leesburg, Va.) and Ryan made the lead stand up by throwing four combined innings of one-run relief. Hastry, who earned his second win of the season, struck out five. Overall, Marist hurlers held the Great Danes to just two extra-base hits and stranded eight runners on base.

Marist faces Siena on Saturday at home in a doubleheader, beginning at noon.
