Final Stats
NEWARK, DEL. -The Marist women's volleyball squad dropped a pair of matches on day two of the Delaware Invitational. Marist was defeated 3-0 to the University of Texas-Arlington by scores of 26-30, 21-30 and 16-30. The Red Foxes dropped the second match of the day to Seton Hall 3-1 with the resulting scores being 15-30, 31-29, 15-30 and 18-30. Senior Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, Pa.) led the Red Foxes with 18 kills over the two matches.
Against UT-Arlington the Red Foxes combined for 34 kills, led by senior Sally Hanson (Guerneville, Calif.) with 10. She was followed by Kenworthy with nine and junior Christy Lukes (Mesa, Ariz.) with eight. The Red Foxes had two players record double digit digs as Stefanie Miksch (Austin, Texas) recorded 12 and Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) posted 11 in the match. Freshman setter Dawn Jan (Belleville, N.J.) recorded 29 assists in just her second career match for Marist.
In the night cap against Seton Hall, Marist stretched the match to four games before eventually falling to the Pirates 3-1. Kenworthy and fellow senior Jackie Poston (Huntingtown, Md.) led the way in kills for Marist with nine apiece. Kenworthy also was the team leader in digs with 12. Jan again was the Red Fox leader in assists, as she posted 27, giving her a total of 66 in her first three collegiate matches.
With the sweep on Saturday, Marist falls to 0-3 on the season. The Red Foxes will be back in action on August 29 when they travel to West Point, N.Y. for a non-league contest with Army.
