Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Marist College women's volleyball team earned a 3-2 (13-30, 30-26, 30-26, 19-30, 16-14) victory against St. Peter's at the McCann Center on Sunday, marking the first time the Red Foxes have beaten the Peahens since joining the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 1997.
Marist freshman setter Dawn Jan (Belleville, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) set a career-high with 65 assists to go along with nine digs. Freshman outside hitter Alexandra Schultze (Austin, Texas/James Bowie) led the Red Foxes with 21 kills and also had nine digs. Senior outside hitter Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) finished with 15 kills and six digs, and senior middle blocker Sally Hanson (Guerenville, Calif./El Molino) totaled 14 kills and two blocks. Senior libero Stefanie Miksch (Austin, Texas/James Bowie) led the Red Foxes in digs with 14.
Marist trailed by as much as four points in the fifth game before coming back to earn the victory. Three of the Red Foxes' four MAAC contests this season have gone to five games. Marist's last three wins have all come in five-game matches.
Sasha Pshenychka led the Peahens with 19 kills and seven blocks. Carolina Garvey totaled 42 assists and seven digs, and Yomi Angulo had a team-high 15 digs for St. Peter's.
St. Peter's fell to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in the MAAC. Marist improved to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in MAAC play, and will return to action on Saturday with a MAAC contest at Manhattan.
