NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Marist men's cross country team competed at the Manhattan-Iona-Marist tri-meet Tuesday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park. Senior Mike Rolek (Maplewood, N.J.) was the leading Red Fox runner, finishing sixth in the 3K race with a time of 9:04.7 seconds.
Freshman Adam Vess (Cromwell, Conn) and sophomore Conor Shelley (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) finished .5 seconds apart, garnering eighth and ninth place respectively. Vess ran the course in a time of 9:15.3, with Shelley running a 9:15.8. Matthew Janczyk (Bristol, Conn.) finished 12th, running a 9:33. Alex Emerel (Holmdel, N.J.) finished six seconds behind Janczyk in 14th place. Junior Kris Geist (East Berne, N.Y.) covered the 3K course in 9:57, with senior Tom Williams (LaGrange, N.Y.) two seconds behind with a time of 9:59.
The Red Foxes will next compete at the 2007 MAAC Championships on Friday at Van Cortlandt Park. The men's 8K race is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
