Final Stats

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist volleyball team defeated Saint Peter's 3-2 (24-30, 30-23, 31-29, 29-31, 15-11) at the McCann Center Saturday afternoon. Sophomore outside hitter Alexandra Schultze (Austin, Tex.) had a double-double with 19 kills and 12 digs to lead Marist to its fifth conference win of the season.

Freshman middle blocker Allie Burke (Alpharetta, Ga.) had a terrific all-around match, with 11 kills (.318), five digs, and a team-high five blocks. Lindsey Schmid (Austin, Tex.) also had a big match, with 15 kills, hitting .500 with four blocks. Sophomore setter Dawn Jan (Belleville, N.J.) had a match-high 63 assists, getting five Red Foxes into double-digit kills. The Red Foxes are now 9-14 on the season, 5-6 in MAAC play.

Saint Peter's took game one 30-24. Marist would come back in game two, hitting .350 and holding the Peahens to a .188 hitting percentage to win 30-23. The Red Foxes took a close game three 31-29, with Saint Peter's coming back with a 31-29 win of their own in game four.

Game five saw five ties and two lead changes. Marist took take control of the deciding game at 10-9 on a kill by Burke. The Red Foxes would clinch the match on a solo block by Schmid off of an attack by Saint Peter's Monique Flores.

Kim Mendoza led Saint Peter's with 19 kills, hitting .271. Setter Caroline Garvey had 56 assists on the afternoon, and Kate McFadden led all players with 26 digs. She also had 15 kills for a double-double. The Peahens are now 10-19 on the season, 3-9 in the MAAC.

The Red Foxes continue their current homestand on Sunday when they take on Loyola. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the McCann Center.
