NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Marist men's cross country team finished second at the 2007 MAAC Championships Friday afternoon, held at Van Cortlandt Park Friday afternoon. The Red Foxes have finished second as a team four out of the last five years. Junior Girma Segni (Bronx, N.Y.) was Marist's top finisher, placing fifth with a time of 25:21.
Segni, Junior David Raucci (Clermont, N.Y.), and senior Mike Rolek (Maplewood, N.J.) were all named All-MAAC following Friday's race. Raucci finished the race in sixth place with a time of 25:29.8. Rolek set a new personal best with a 26:04, earning a 12th place finish. Sophomore Conor Shelley (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) covered the 8K course in 26:16.5, finishing in 17th place. Junior John Keenan (Centereach, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for the Red Foxes, running a time of 26:56.7 to finish 21st. Marist's overall team time of 2:10:08.0 was the third best team time in program history.
Iona won the MAAC Championship with 17 points. Marist's 61 points put them 42 points ahead of Rider, who finished third. Loyola and Manhattan rounded out the top five teams.
Marist will next compete in the NCAA Regionals in Boston on Nov. 10.
