Final Stats
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- In the final home match of the year, the Marist volleyball team fell to Fairfield 3-0 (30-27, 30-27, 30-26). Alexandra Schultze (Austin, Texas), Kelsey Schaefer (Maria Stein, Ohio) all had double digit kills for the Red Foxes.
Marist (10-19, 6-11 MAAC) took an early lead in the first game but faltered down the stretch as Fairfield came away with the win in game one. All three games were close but Marist couldn't get over the hump. In game three, the Red Foxes took a brief 23-22 lead but the Stags took eight of the last eleven points.
As a team Marist hit .246. The Stags (20-10, 17-1 MAAC) hit .333 and were led by Kelly Oliver's 14 kills.
Schultze led the Red Foxes with 15 kills. Foss had 12, and Schaefer had 10.
Sophomore setter Dawn Jan (Belleville, N.J.) set a new Marist single season assists record in the match. With 44 assists on the afternoon, Jan eclipsed her record set last season of 1,170 assists. She now has 1,204 assists on the season.
Senior Christy Lukes (Mesa, Ariz.) played her last home match of her career for Marist. The senior had six kills and hit .333 on the day. Allie Burke (Alpharetta, Ga.) was in on five blocks in the match.
Marist returns to action at Siena tomorrow at 2 p.m. It will be the last match of the year for the Red Foxes.
