BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Marist volleyball team fell at Canisius 3-0 (30-16, 30-16, 30-16) Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Alexandra Schultze (Austin, Tex.) led the Red Foxes with 15 kills.

With 35 kills this weekend, Schultze has broken the record for kills in a season which was set in 2002 by Aline DosSantos with 436. In 28 matches this season, Schultze has 461 kills with two matches to go. The sophomore has led Marist in kills 26 times this season.

Freshman Allie Burke(Alpharetta, Ga.) and Kelsey Schaefer (Maria Stein, Ohio) added four kills apiece. Schaefer also led all players with 14 digs.

Canisius (10-17, 8-8 MAAC) dominated the match, holding the Red Foxes to a .009 hitting percentage on the afternoon while hitting .370 in the match. The Golden Griffins hit over .500 in each of the first two games, and overcame a .118 percentage in the clinching game three by holding Marist to a -.162. Canisius held a 44-35 advantage in digs and a 11-5 edge in blocks and had 12 service aces.

Michella Domo led the Golden Griffins with 15 kills, hitting .522. Setters Brittany Gerde and Lauren Lackovich combined for 37 assists, as libero Jess Stackhouse had 13 digs for Canisius.

Marist returns home for their final home match of the season Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes will take on Fairfield for senior day at the McCann Center. First serve is at 2 p.m.
