POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.--The Marist softball team and Head Coach Erin Layton released their 2008 schedule on Tuesday morning. The Red Foxes will open the season at the Dixie Classic at Stetson University on February 8th, and their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule begins on the road, April 6th, at Fairfield.

The Red Foxes will play the likes of Stetson, Ohio State, and Detroit Mercy at the Dixie Classic in Florida. They will then take two weeks off before they go back down south to Charleston, South Carolina to play in the College of Charleston Invitational (February 29 - March 2). They will play the likes of Akron, UNC-Wilmington, and Howard while down in Charleston.

Following South Carolina, the Red Foxes will head north for their home opener versus the Army Black Knights on March 6th.

They will play in one more tournament at Delaware State before several non-conference road match-ups versus Longwood, and Virginia Tech. They will round out their pre-MAAC schedule with home games against Yale and Binghamton and road games with Big East opponents, Seton Hall and Providence.

After the MAAC slate kicks off, the Red Foxes will sprinkle in games versus the likes of St. John's, Central Connecticut, and Fordham.

After reaching the MAAC Tournament Championship Game last year, the Red Foxes will look to be taking part in the '08 Tournament. It will be held in Stratford, Connecticut at DeLuca Field beginning May 9. The top four teams during the regular season will participate in the tournament.
