Final Stats
FAIRFIELD, CONN. - The Marist Women's Tennis Team improved to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the MAAC with a 6-1 win at Fairfield on Tuesday afternoon. Christine Ong (Tarzana, Calif.) and Cassie Strange (Valencia, Calif.) teamed to win at first doubles 8-4 against the Stags, with each also posting a win at singles.
The Foxes won the doubles point on Tuesday with Ong and Strange defeating Paulina Rys and Gabriela Davila 8-4 at first doubles and Erin Godly (Little Silver, N.J.) and Alexa Strange (Valencia, Calif.) defeating Alexis Accomando and Courtney Price 8-0 at second doubles.
In singles action, Ong defeated Rys 6-1, 6-1 at first singles and Cassie Strange downed Lauren Bonanno 6-0, 1-1, retired at second. Godley took third singles over Dana Postupack 5-7, 3-0, retired and fourth singles was won by Megan Burgess (Clinton, Conn) 6-4, 6-2 over Accomando. Mirelva Colon (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) was also a winner in sixth singles, winning 6-3, 6-0 over Price.
The Red Foxes will return to the court tomorrow, April 11 at noon. Senior day festivities will precede the match being held at the Marist Tennis Pavilion.
