Marist's De La Llave Named MAAC Softball Player Of The Week

EDISON, N.J. - Marist junior centerfielder Pamela de la Llave (West Orange, N.J.) has been named MAAC Softball Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. De la Llave earned the honor by hitting .563 (9-16) for the Red Foxes over their six games last week.

De la Llave hit for both average and power last week, picking up three doubles and hitting two home runs. She connected on a grand slam in game one of a doubleheader sweep against Central Connecticut on March 28 and then a solo blast in the second game. Both shots accounted for the game winning runs for the Foxes who won both games by a count of 6-0.

In a doubleheader at Manhattan on March 31, she combined to go 5-8 with two doubles and a run scored. The next day at Saint Peter's she picked up a hit in both games of the doubleheader to run her hitting streak to 10-games, tying the season high on the team.

Over the six games, de la Llave had an on-base percentage of .632 and had a slugging percentage of 1.125.

De la Llave and the Red Foxes will be back in action on Tuesday, April 3 when they host Albany at 2:00 p.m. at the Softball Park at Gartland Athletic Field.
