Marist Advances To MAAC Semifinals

FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team recorded a convincing 7-0 victory over Saint Peter's on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women Tennis Championships, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The Red Foxes dropped a total of just seven games in all of their matches combined.

Freshman Cassie Strange (Valencia, Calif.) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles for the Red Foxes, and twin sister Alexa Strange (Valencia, Calif.) also cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at fifth singles.

Marist earned its 10th consecutive victory, improving to 11-1 on the season. The Red Foxes will next take on fourth-seeded Loyola in a semifinal match on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. In the teams' regular-season meeting, Marist earned a 6-1 win on April 1.
