POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-The Le Moyne baseball squad handed Marist losses in both ends of a doubleheader Saturday at the McCann Baseball Field. The Dolphins improved to 19-15 overall and 13-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, while Marist dropped to 11-24 overall and 7-9 in the league.
Le Moyne reliever Ryan Woods (3-1) picked up the win in game one, pitching 1.2 innings of shutout ball with one walk. Marist reliever Mike Puckli (0-3, Leesburg, Va.) suffered his third loss after allowing one run on two hits in three innings with one strikeout and one walk.
Le Moyne designated hitter Chris Haynes, right fielder Ben Gaal and first baseman Corey O'Neill all had a pair of hits, while Haynes and left fielder Chris Edmondson had two RBIs apiece. Sophomore left fielder Max Most (Port Washington, N.Y.) picked up two hits for the Red Foxes and scored both of Marist's runs. Senior center fielder Travis Musolf (Manchester, N.J.) stole his 17th base in the fourth inning.
The Dolphins rapped 13 hits in the second game with shortstop Andy Parrino, O'Neill and Haynes all registering a pair of RBIs. Parrino also scored two runs and stole his second base of the season. Marist got two hits apiece from freshman shortstop Richard Curylo (Staten Island, N.Y.), Most, senior second baseman Pat Feeney (New City, N.Y.) and junior catcher Keith Glasser (Rensselaer, N.Y.). Feeney had the only RBI with a run-scoring single in the first frame.
Le Moyne starter Eric Beaulac (6-1) went six innings to pick up the victory and allowed two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk. Marist senior starter Erik Supplee (3-2, Williamsburg, Va.) was tagged with the loss after hurling 3.2 innings and yielding seven runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
The final game of the series between the two teams will be Sunday at noon at the McCann Baseball Field.
