Game 2 Box Score

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-The Marist baseball team took advantage of stellar pitching outings and 18 total runs Saturday to hand conference foe Rider a pair of shutout losses. The Red Foxes were victorious 12-0 in the first game and 6-0 in the second. Both squads are now 7-16 overall and 4-4 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Offensively, sophomore right fielder Brian McDonough (Hanover, Mass.) led the way with a 4-5 effort at the plate in the first game, while sophomore left fielder Max Most (Port Washington, N.Y.) went 3-4 with three RBIs. Senior center fielder Travis Musolf (Manchester, N.J.) also scored three runs and stole a pair of bases to give him 10 for the season. Shortstop James Hayes went 2-2 to power the Rider offensive attack.

Marist sophomore starter Josh Rickards (2-2, Glenolden, Pa.) picked up the win, tossing 6.1 innings and allowing six hits and three walks to go with seven strikeouts. Rider starter Mike Petrowski (3-2) took the loss, throwing 3.1 innings and yielding eight hits and three earned runs to go with three strikeouts and two walks.

Musolf, senior third baseman Pat Feeney (New City, N.Y.), sophomore second baseman Kyle Meyer (East Greenbush, N.Y.) all had two hits for Marist in the second game, while senior designated hitter Justin Lepore (Madison, Conn.) blasted his third home run of the season, a two-run shot that fueled a five-run sixth frame for the home team. Musolf also registered a pair of RBIs.

Marist starter Erik Supplee (2-1, Williamsburg, Va.) went the distance on the hill, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out two. Rider starter Jimmer Kennedy (1-4) tossed 5.1 innings in the loss, allowing seven hits, four walks and three earned runs, while also whiffing a pair of batters.

The final game of the series will be Monday at the McCann Baseball Field at 2:30 p.m.
