ALBANY, N.Y.-Senior center fielder Travis Musolf (Manchester, N.J.) and senior designated hitter Justin Lepore (Madison, Conn.) both registered homers as Marist pounded Albany 17-8 Tuesday afternoon at Varsity Field. Marist improved to 12-26 overall with the win, while the Great Danes dropped to 18-21. The loss snapped a five-game skid for the Red Foxes.
Musolf drove in three in the game and scored a pair of runs, while Lepore had a team-high five RBIs with two runs scored. Freshman first baseman Ryan Gauck (Clifton Park, N.Y.) also rapped three hits, while junior catcher Keith Glasser (Rensselaer, N.Y.), senior second baseman Pat Feeney (New City, N.Y.) and sophomore left fielder Max Most (Port Washington, N.Y.) all had two RBIs. Every Marist starter garnered at least one hit on the afternoon. Sophomore right fielder Brian McDonough (Hanover, Mass.) posted a team-high three runs scored.
Albany third baseman Steve Wyland had a game-high four hits, while shortstop Sean Donovan, first baseman Steve Sayre and catcher Tom Hill had two hits apiece. Donovan had a team-best four RBIs. Hill also had three RBIs with a pair of doubles.
Junior reliever Rob Glowacki (1-0, Red Bank, N.J.) was credited with his first career victory. He tossed four innings and allowed six hits and one earned run with two strikeouts. Albany starter Marco Rivera (0-2) took the loss, throwing just two innings, yielding four hits and one earned run with one strikeout.
Marist will now turn its attention to Wednesday's contest with Army at Dutchess Stadium at 7 p.m. in the second annual Hudson Valley Baseball Classic.
