POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Sophomore outside hitter Alexandra Schultze (Austin, Texas) had 21 kills, hit .362 and finished with six digs as the Marist volleyball team won its fourth straight match on Friday. In their second match of the day in the "Volley In the Valley" Tournament, Marist posted a 3-0 (30-20, 30-21, 30-28) victory over Rutgers.
Sophomore setter Dawn Jan (Belleville, N.J.) finished with 43 assists and eight digs. Junior right side Kesley Schaefer (Maria Stein, Ohio) and freshman Emily Brosky (Whitehall, Pa.) finished with 12 digs apiece.
Freshman middle blocker Allie Burke (Alpharetta, Ga.) added nine kills and three blocks, while freshman outside hitter Joanna Foss (Northville, Mich.) added seven kills, nine digs and a hitting percentage of .368.
Katie Groff led Rutgers, which fell to 1-3, with 11 kills.
After dropping their first two matches of the season, Marist has now won four straight matches. Earlier Friday, the Red Foxes downed Quinnipiac, 3-1.
Marist will return to action on Saturday, as the Red Foxes play their final match in the "Volley In the Valley" Tournament when they host Air Force at 7 p.m.
