POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist volleyball team will co-host the "Volley in the Valley" Tournament with Army on Friday and Saturday, beginning a busy weekend for Marist athletics. In addition to volleyball playing three matches at the McCann Center over the next two days, the Marist football, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's cross country and women's cross country teams will also be beginning their seasons.
Marist volleyball will host Quinnipiac at 11 a.m. Friday, Rutgers at 7 p.m. Friday and Air Force at 7 p.m. Saturday at the McCann Center. Additionally, Quinnipiac will take on Rutgers at 3 p.m. Friday in a match at Marist. Men's and women's soccer will begin their seasons on Friday with road matches. The men's team, under the direction of first-year Head Coach and Marist alum Matt Viggiano, will take on Fordham at 7 p.m. The women will play at Army, also at 7 p.m. Men's and women's cross country will also head to Army for the West Point opener.
Football starts its 16th season under Head Coach Jim Parady on Saturday, as the Red Foxes will travel to Easton, Pa., to take on Patriot League foe Lafayette. Marist is coming off a share of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League championship last season.
