POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Junior right side Kelsey Schaefer (Maria Stein, Ohio) finished with 17 kills, 14 digs a hitting percentage of .696 as the Marist volleyball team prevailed over Quinnipiac in the first match of the "Volley In the Valley" Tournament. The Red Foxes won 3-1 (30-16, 29-31, 30-25, 30-16).
Sophomore outside hitter Alexandra Schultze (Austin, Texas) led Marist in kills with 18 and digs with 16. Freshman libero Emily Brosky (Whitehall, Pa.) added 12 digs, and sophomore setter Dawn Jan (Belleville, N.J.) totaled 36 assists and five service aces.
Crista Valentino paced Quinnipiac (0-1) with 11 kills.
The Red Foxes improved their record to 3-2 with the victory. They will return to action in the "Volley In the Valley" Tournament at 7 p.m., when they host Rutgers of the Big East.
