SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Marist women's soccer team lost 4-1 at Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon. The Red Foxes are now 2-3-1 on the season.
Freshman Melanie Matera (Monroe, Conn.) scored her first career goal in the ninetieth minute, putting in a shot from the top of the six-yard box. Amy Tillotson (Islip, N.Y.) got the assist for her first career point. Allison Lane (Marlton, N.J.) started in goal and made two saves, with Caitlin Nazarechuk (Ringwood, N.J.) coming into the match to make four saves.
Seton Hall got on the board first in the 31st minute, when Nicki Gross headed in a Madeline Kill corner kick. The Pirates would add another first half goal in 38th minute when Ashley Reinecke put in a shot off a corner kick to go ahead 2-0. Seton Hall outshot Marist 14-9 in the match, and moves to 5-2-1 on the season.
Marist will return to the pitch Friday night when they travel to Bucknell. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
