On Saturday afternoon the Marist men's soccer team defeated Albany by a score of 1-0.
Corey Perkins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored in the 78th minute on a cross from
Jamison Allegra (East Haven, Conn.).
Freshman keeper Tom DeBenedetto (Paramus, N.J.) got his first start of the year, and it was a good one. The rookie saved four shots and recorded his first career win and shut-out. The Red Foxes were out shot by Albany 12-7 but were able to put in the difference maker.
The win brought the Red Foxes record to 3-4-1
For Albany (1-7), Ian Peach was able to get off five shots. Two were on goal.
Marist will return to action versus Rider next Friday at 7 PM. It will be Marist's first MAAC match of the season.
