BOSTON, Mass. - Junior Girma Segni (Bronx, N.Y.) took first place overall in Friday's Boston University Invitational, completing the 8K course in a time of 26:09 in a great deal of heat and humidity. The meet was also scored on a team-by-team dual meet basis, as the Red Foxes captured victories over Boston University, Harvard and Manhattan while falling to Brown.
Marist also received a fifth-place finish from freshman Adam Vess (Cromwell, Conn.) in his first collegiate race. Vess completed the course in a time of 26:34.
In all, the Red Foxes placed four runners in the top 20. Senior Mike Rolek (Maplewood, N.J.) took 13th place in a time of 27:28, and freshman Timothy Keegan (Huntington, N.Y.) finished 18th in 27:49. Fellow freshman Nick Webster (Latham, N.Y.) rounded out the Marist top five by coming in 21st in 28:07.
Marist will return to action on Sept. 22 at the Iona College Meet of Champions, which will be held at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City.
