NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On Saturday afternoon, the Marist men's swimming and diving team knocked off Southern Connecticut State University, 158-142, in a non-conference dual-meet. The Red Foxes (7-2) won both relays, and Greg Jablonski (Massapequa, N.Y.) won three events to key the win.
Jablonski won the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events (:59.61 and 2:12.90). The senior also won the 200 yard IM in 1:57.97.
Marist finished one-two in the 200 yard IM relay. The group of Luke Johnson (Pensacola, Fla.), Jablonski, Mark Esolen (Archbald, Pa.), and Keith Miller (Missoula, Mont.) finished first in 1:38.71. The team of Joshua Sklanka (Watertown, N.Y.), Ralph Rienzo (Wallingford, Conn.), Johnson, and Angelo Ciraolo (Grand Island, N.Y.) finished first in the 400 yard freestyle relay to secure the meet win for the Red Foxes.
Rienzo finished second in both the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle events (4:50.03 and 9:55.37).
Marist swept the 50 yard freestyle, with Ciraolo taking first place in :21.86. Miller took second and Chris Fay (Oak Hills, Va.) finished third. Miller won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.66.
Esolen finished second in the 200 yard butterfly (2:00.56), and Johnson took second in the 200 yard backstroke (1:59.71).
Marist took first and second in the 1 meter diving event. Devon O'Nalty (East Hartford, Conn.) won with a score of 267.85, and Brian Bolstad (Highland, N.Y.) took second. O'Nalty also took second off the 3 meter board (271.55).
Marist returns to the pool when they take on UMBC next Saturday at the McCann Center Natatorium. The meet is set to begin at 12 noon.
