NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Marist women's swimming and diving team won a tight dual-meet over Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon, 159-138. The Red Foxes won nine events in the meet and were led by Lyndsay Martin (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Sandra Bujalski (Thomaston, Conn.).
Martin, a sophomore, won two events for the Red Foxes (6-3). She won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:10.66 and the 100 yard butterfly (1:00.30). Bujalski finished second in the 200 yard butterfly (2:13.28) and the 200 yard freestyle (1:59.17). She won the 100 yard freestyle (54.94).
The Red Foxes swept the 100 yard backstroke with Jamie Falco (North Haven, Conn.) winning the event with a time of 1:00.54. Megan Flood (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished second, and Alyssa Hewitt (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished third. Falco also finished second in the 200 yard backstroke (2:08.69).
Jenell Walsh-Thomas (Medford, N.J.) won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:13.29 and finished second in the 200 yard IM (2:13.71).
Madison Walker (Colleyville, Texas) finished second in the 50 yard freestyle (25.69), and Savannah Puca (Huntington, N.Y.) was second in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:33.15).
Marist finished one-two in the 200 yard IM relay. The team of Falco, Martin, Bujalski, and Walker finished first, with a time of 1:52.55.
On the boards, Melissa Mangona (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won both the 1 meter (226.65) and 3 meter (246.20) events for the Red Foxes.
The Red Foxes will return to action at home versus UMBC on Saturday, January 26. The meet is set to start at 12 noon.
