NEW YORK, NY (AP) - Ryan Schneider (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) scored a team-high 14 points for the Marist men's basketball team (3-7) in its 65-44 loss to St. John's on Saturday in the first round of the Aeropostale Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden. The Red Foxes will face Columbia in the consolation game on Sunday at noon.

Sean Evans scored 19 points to lead St. John's to its seventh straight win. Paris Horne added 12 points for the Red Storm (9-1), and Rob Thomas and D.J. Kennedy had 11 each, putting St. John's into the title game of the Holiday Festival tournament at Madison Square Garden against Virginia Tech.

A Schneider basket with 13:31 left in the first half put the Red Foxes up 12-10, but the Red Storm subsequently went on a 13-0 run to take a lead they would not relinquish. The Red Foxes cut the Red Storm's lead to as little as five, and trailed by 10 at the half. However, St. John's began the second half a 20-3 run, as Marist did not hit a field goal in the first 9:23 of the period.

Schneider also led Marist with eight rebounds. Red-shirt junior guard Javon Parris (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10.
