Four Red Foxes Post Career Highs In Scoring As Marist Scoots Past Bucknell

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Red-shirt senior forward Ryan Schneider (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) scored a career-high 29 points to go along with nine rebounds and five steals as the Marist men's basketball team defeated Bucknell 89-63 at the McCann Center on Sunday. Red-shirt sophomore guard Javon Parris (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman guard Mike Taylor (Los Angeles, Calif.) also finished with career highs in scoring as the Red Foxes won their second straight.

Goodwin, Parris, and Taylor scored 16, 15 and nine, respectively. Freshman guard R.J. Hall (Bloomfield, N.J.) added five points, a career-high eight assists and four rebounds.

The game's first half featured seven lead changes and four ties. With 8:41 left in the first half, a three-pointer by Schneider put Marist up 15-13, and the Red Foxes never relinquished the lead after that.

With Marist leading 26-22 late in the first half, Parris scored six points in 28 seconds to extend the Red Foxes' lead to 10. His layup with 1:53 remaining gave Marist a 28-22 lead. On the Red Foxes' next possession, Parris made a layup while being intentionally fouled. He converted the ensuing two free throws to give Marist a 32-22 advantage. Starting with Parris' sequence, the Red Foxes closed the first half on an 11-2 run. Goodwin scored 13 of his 16 in the first half.

The Red Foxes used a 16-1 run in the second half to put the game out of reach. Schneider scored eight points in the spurt, which spanned 5:41. Marist led by as much as 31 with a minute remaining before Bucknell scored the final five points. Schneider scored 19 of his 29 points after the intermission.

The Red Foxes shot 50 percent (34-for-68) from the field, 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from three-point range and committed a season-low 12 turnovers while forcing 19. Marist outrebounded Bucknell by a margin of 42-29.

G.W. Boon scored 14 points off the bench to pace Bucknell, which fell to 3-8.

Marist, now 5-8 overall, will return to action on Tuesday at Binghamton. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
