When a bench technical was assessed to Binghamton three seconds later, Schneider hit a pair of free throws to put Marist up 35-22. However, the Red Foxes did not hit a field goal the rest of the first half, and Binghamton closed the half on an 11-0 run as Marist led 37-35 going to the locker room.

Binghamton then scored the first five points of the second half to jump out to a three-point lead.
