ALBANY, N.Y. - The Marist men's basketball team suffered a 77-60 loss to Siena in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at the Times Union Center on Tuesday. Ahead by 1 with 11:06 to play, the Red Foxes were outscored 20-2 the rest of the way as they fell to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the MAAC.
Red-shirt senior forward Ryan Schneider (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) led the Red Foxes in both scoring (11) and rebounding (seven). Red-shirt sophomore guard Dejuan Goodwin (Baltimore, Md.) added 10, including a pair of three-pointers.
Siena junior forward Alex Franklin led all players in points and rebounds with 22 and eight, respectively. The Saints are now 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the MAAC.
Marist committed a season-high 26 turnovers in the game, including 17 in the first half. However, the Red Foxes also shot 62.5 percent (15-for-24) from the field prior to the intermission as they trailed 39-37 at the half. The contest featured 16 lead changes and 10 ties.
Marist returns home on Saturday, when the Red Foxes host Cleveland State in a non-conference game. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
Notes: A pair of Red Foxes had career highs in scoring - red-shirt junior guard Javon Parris (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with nine, and freshman forward Alex Vouyoukas (Athens, Greece) with six. ... Goodwin, the MAAC leader in three-point percentage, is now shooting .571 (12-for-21) from distance on the season. ... Tonight was Schneider's 100th career game, as well as Marist's 200th MAAC regular-season game. The Red Foxes are 107-93 in MAAC regular-season contests.
