POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist softball program has announced that Tara DiMaggio will be joining the Red Foxes' coaching staff. DiMaggio, a Fishkill, N.Y. native and John Jay High School graduate, will focus on working with the team's pitching staff.
In her time at John Jay, DiMaggio was an intricate part in five consecutive league titles and three New York State Championship appearances. She had a combined ERA of 0.76 in her five years, and was named the Poughkeepsie Journal Pitcher of the Year three different times. She was also the Poughkeepsie Journal Player of the Year in 1998.
She was the first softball player ever recruited to play at Syracuse and was part of their inaugural softball team in 2000. While at Syracuse, DiMaggio was a two-year captain, and a four-time Big East Player of the Week. She currently holds Syracuse records for wins, shutouts, appearances, innings pitched and strikeouts. DiMaggio also was a utility player for the Orange.
DiMaggio has coached the Deuces Wild Women's Open team ('02-04) in addition to organizing and running the Advanced Pitching Clinic at the Casperkill Country Club ('03-05). She competed in the Empire State Games from 1995-2005, helping the Hudson Valley squad earn a gold medal in 2002. She is currently employed by IBM as a lead graphic designer.
