BALTIMORE, Md. -- On Sunday evening, the Marist women's tennis team disposed of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Loyola, 6-1. It is the fourth straight win for the Red Foxes, and they are now 4-0 in the MAAC and 5-7 overall. Five different Red Foxes were double winners on the day.
The Red Foxes won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Christine Ong (Tarzana, Calif.) defeated Caitlin Day 6-1, 6-2 in first singles.
Erin Godly (Verona, Ky.) played the match of the day in second singles. The senior won a thriller over Kerri Swan 0-6, 6-4, 15-13.
"I was really proud of the way Erin played in that match," head coach Roge Nesbitt said. "She really fought hard and did a great job in pulling out that win."
Cassie Strange (Valencia, Calif.) won her third singles match over Joy Johnson 6-0, 6-2, and Alexa Strange (Valencia, Calif.) won 6-3, 6-0 over Stephanie Dunn in fourth singles. Mirelva Colon (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) won 6-4, 6-1 over Meaghan McKenna in fifth singles.
Marist will visit Siena at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
