Fox's Last Second Goal Not Enough

Sept. 12, 2008

Final Stats

Bronx, N.Y. - With Marist down 1-0, and one second remaining on the clock, junior Kate Fox (Franklin, Mass.) scored the game-tying goal, to force overtime against the Fordham Rams. In the second overtime period the Rams would notch a game-winner to hoist Fordham over Marist (1-3) 2-1.

Fox's goal came off a cross from freshman Jennifer Orlando (Bloomfield, N.J.). Fox's goal was her third of the season and 17 of her career, moving her into a fourth place tie with Amanda Swiderek. Orlando's assist was the first of her collegiate career, in just her fourth game as a Red Fox.

Fordham jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute on a left-footed goal from Katie Sanchez, which came off a feed from Kim Boulos. Boulos would add the game-winner in the 109th minute for the Rams.

The Marist goalkeeping combination of Anna Case (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) and Jamie Balzarini (Holbrook, N.Y.), were credited with 10 saves on the match, making three and seven respectively.

Marist will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field when they take on the St. Joseph's Hawks (2-2).
