POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Red Foxes women's swimming and diving team earned their second consecutive win, as they defeated the Southern Connecticut State Owls 138-100 on Saturday at the McCann Center. The Red Foxes now stand at 4-4 with two dual meets remaining in the season.
Senior Sandra Bujalski (Thomaston, Conn.) and freshman Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.) each won two events to pace the Red Foxes against the Owls.
Bujalski won the 200-yd. IM with a time of 2:11.51 for her first individual win of the afternoon. She kicked off the second session of the meet with a victory in the 200-yd. butterfly. Her time in the fly was 2:09.66. Bujalski was a part of both winning relay teams, the 400-yd. medley relay and the 400-yd. freestyle realy. Marist won with times of 4:05.34 and 3:44.58 respectively.
Fountain took first place in both sprint freestyle events. She won the 50-yd. freestyle with a time of 25.67 seconds, while she won the 100-yd. freestyle in 54.56 seconds.
In diving, senior Rachel Cuyler (Mansfield, Conn.) won the 1-meter event with a score of 215.61. She was followed in second place by freshman Meredith Michl (Delmar, N.Y.) off the 1-meter board.
Cuyler and Michl would switch places in 3-meter diving. Michl took first with a score of 222.30, Cuyler followed in second place with a total score of 202.12.
The Red Foxes will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 24 when they travel to UMBC for a noon meet with the Retrievers.
