Box Score

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Marist men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over Manhattan in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on Friday night at Gaelic Park. Junior goalkeeper Joe Pilla (Watertown, Conn.) posted his fourth shutout of the season as he made two saves in goal, while freshman Stephan Brossard (Port Washington, N.Y.) notched his third goal of the season.

In the 31st minute, junior Nico Mossa (Pelham, N.Y.) fed a ball to Brossard at the top of the box. He used his left foot to chip the ball over the head of Manhattan goalie Chris Todd. The marker held up as the game-winner.

For the match, the Red Foxes posted four shots on goal to the Jaspers' two.

With the win, Marist improved to 5-6-1 overall and 1-2 in conference tilts. The win was the Red Foxes' first MAAC victory since Oct. 28, 2007, when they defeated Fairfield, 4-0 at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.

Marist will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 18, as it travels to the University of Rutgers-Newark for a MAAC match with the Saint Peter's Peacocks. First touch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
